Emergency Shelter Ministries
Help provide Emergency Shelter for women, men and children where over 114,000 nights of shelter were provided last year. The Rescue Mission Emergency Shelter Ministry seeks to provide a safe, secure and compassionate environment where its guests may encounter the grace of God and where all are treated with respect, understanding and dignity. Our central purpose is to minister to others in need in the name of Jesus Christ.
A plate of good food, served in Jesus’ name, with a ministering heart, can be the first step towards healing, recovery and wholeness. Last year, almost 275,000 meals were served to guests.
The Rescue Mission receives, prepares and serves food to hungry people three times a day using food donations from a variety of sources. Grocery stores such as Kroger and Ukrops, manufacturers, food warehouses, caterers, farmers and hunters all help provide the donated food for the meals enabling the Rescue Mission to serve a meal at a cost of 14¢ a plate.

Women and Children's Ministries
The center is a Christ-centered temporary emergency shelter for families and single women and houses Recovery Program participants for women and their children. One example of how we help is over 17,000 pieces of clothing and furniture were distributed to families in need in 2007.
The Rescue Mission Recovery Programs for substance and/or self-abuse seek to continue the loving, compassionate, forgiving and transforming ministry of Jesus Christ by creating an environment in which people seeking a lifestyle change from self-destructive behaviors and dysfunction find community, encouragement, time and tools to do so. In 2007, they participated in over 20,000 of classroom hours to pursue their committment of controlling the addiction that has controlled them for too long.
Free Clinic to the Homeless Ministries
The Rescue Mission Free Clinic for the Homeless intends to alleviate human suffering in Jesus’ name by providing accessible, direct, primary and preventive care to uninsured, unemployed, homeless individuals in collaboration with other area agencies and people of good will. Almost 7,000 patients were seen in 2007 and over $1,000,000 in healthcare provided at a fraction of the cost.
